TV LandTV Land

Roads like tongues stretching across the
body of land branding her flat, toned surface.
The horizon wavers, hallucination the only preface
to the metaphor of our life. Buzzards ask "North or South?"
An oasis to stifle our pain but the desert is for our mouth.
Beasts of metal roar along the highway, kicking clouds.
The weaker, the slower eat exhaust like proud coke heads.

Each beast holds a soul in captivity, enslaved in shining metal.
Feet chained to pedals, prisoned upon a paved black top scar.
Fissures run through the surface and beneath, dust settles;
it rests, rattles, rumbles as each burning rubber passes over.

quilt work patches on a
silken undulating surface.
Twisting without gravity.

Refraction. Reflection. Resonate soundless through me.

All there is to hear, all there is listen
is the thrum of water.
It     pulses   .
Spin weightless.

Stretch. Arc. Glide. Grace.

No crashes here.
No gouges,
gashes,
wild animals.
I can drift in serenity while
everything moves above
that shifting gateway above me.
Seamless and beautiful.

Peace. Ease. Stillness. Solitude. Suffocation.

It burns the back of my throat,
